Willamette Cascade Model Railroad Club

We are the oldest and largest model rr club of the Eugene-Springfield area. We have a modular HO scale railroad that we set up 2-4 times per year for public shows. We have a monthly meeting the 2nd Saturday of every month at the EWEB Corporate Headquarters located at 500 East 4th Avenue in Eugene beginning at 7 p.m. We do educational clinics, slide tours of model railroad clubs or the prototype, and we have guest clinicians about the hobby of model railroading. We are currently registered as a 501 C-4 not for profit educational organization under IRS rules, we are incorporated with the State of Oregon and we have a board of directors who operate under a set of by-laws. We are sponsoring the 19th annual train show and swap meet in 2007 and the original purpose for these meets was to save the Southern Pacific Freight depot in Springfield from being torn down and burned. With that project being a success at least 10 years ago now, we were to have a permanent home in this building but that dream vanished when moving and renovating the structure exceeded monies available so cut backs had to be made. Even so, we were the largest financial contributor and person power provider to that project. We continue to look for a permanent home. In the meantime under the current administration's leadership we started a building fund with our local bank and we continue to add monies to this fund each year, usually after we see if we have a profit from the swap meet. Our membership right now is at 53 members and many of us have trains in more than one scale. We welcome anyone to our club who has an interest in trains, whether model trains or the prototype. Our roots began when we sponsored the 1973, 1978, 1983, PNR-NMRA Regional meets in Eugene and that culminated with the sponsorship of the 1987 National NMRA Convention in Eugene as well. Dues are $25.00 per year for adults (18 years and older), $15.00 for junior members (under 18 years of age) and we offer a discount of 15% off membership fees if two or more join from the same household. Twice a year we also sponsor activites that include the model railroader members family members at no additional cost. People are welcome to visit up to 3 times before we ask them to make a decision on membership.
