I cant find my favorite shop, club, or show. What can I do?
You can always suggest a new shop, club, or show. By adding it to the database, you are helping other model railroaders, store owners, organizers, and the general model railroading community.
Why are you doing this?
I am a model railroader. I wanted to be able to find upcoming model train shows easily, but couldn't find any place that had them listed. I also travel and like to visit other train shops, but there was not a simple way to find shops in the areas I visited. So I decided to build my own site that would do this for me.
Do you get paid for this?
No.
This is a hobby of mine. And a passion. I want model railroaders, new and old, to be able to connect with local shops, clubs, and upcoming area shows. If that happens, I am happy. Get the word out. Let others know.
I have added a donation link if you want to support what I am doing with StagingTracks. There is also a Recommended Book section where you can purchase a book from Amazon.com and I will receive a portion of the sale.
I do get paid to develop web applications like StagingTracks. If you are looking for some sort of web development, feel free to contact me at McKinney Station and we can talk.
How can I help StagingTracks succeed?
You can help by adding any shops, clubs, or shows that you know that are not listed. Your input is vital in making this a successful tool for others.
I have an idea for you. How can I get it to you?
I am always interested in finding out how to make StagingTracks better. If you have an idea send it to me.
Are you really a model railroader?
I am. Although not at the moment.
I got my first train in elementary school (although I couldn't tell you what it was, but it had three rail track). My brother and I played with it for quite a while before it got put into a box and ended up in the attic. I didn't think more about trains until college when I got an N scale Bachmann starter set.
From that moment I was hooked. I slowly added more pieces of track, more rolling stock. I even tried to build a layout, but I was constrained for space and it never really developed. After I got married and moved to an apartment, I thought I would finally have enough space to build a layout, but had to settle for a simple shelf switcher that never got finished.
Living in Denver, CO I came to experience Caboose Hobbies and see how much there was in the world of model railroading. Eventually, a friend of mine offer me some space in his spare bedroom and I built my first real layout.
Things progressed nicely until we moved back to Texas and our new home did not have room for The Adrisport and Codyville. After sitting in the garage for a few years, it was finally dismantle. All engines, rolling stock, and structures were saved and stored for some future day when a new railroad will rise up.
Having three small children, I have put any new layout plans on hold. I am always thinking and planning for that next layout. The kids love trains, so it may be sooner that I expect.
