And Then There Was A Runaround

After spending most of the day at the trainshow we stopped by our local train store to pick up some more track. When we had stopped in earlier in the week they were out of some of the switches. But this time they had everything we needed. The shop is really good about keeping things in stock and ordering it for you when it isn’t there. I love going in there because the guys are so friendly. The boys love it because they can play with the little plastic Gnomy trains near the counter. They are constantly asking if we can check out so they can play with the trains.

We picked up two switches to complete the runaround on the left side of the layout. Again, assembling the track was so easy. I can’t say enough good things about the Kato Unitrack. It is solid stuff and gets the trains up and running quickly. I did find that the #4 switches have a problem with setting the power routing, but it is well documented and not too hard to fix.

Here is the breakdown from today’s purchases:

  1. Kato Unitrack #4 Left Turnout – 1 @ $26.20
  2. Kato Unitrack #4 Right Turnout – 1 @ $26.20

Total (without tax): $52.40

Running Total: $125.39

You can see all the project pictures in my Flickr stream.

This 2x4 project seems to have lost steam (pun intended).  Did it get scrapped?  The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about doing one with Unitrack as well as a first layout.

I actually just started it up again.  I have new pictures I have been meaning to post.  Thanks for the comments.  I will get those uploaded tonight.
